Vertical Landscapes at Palazzo Mora | Venice Biennale 2023
VERTICAL LANDSCAPES can be seen at the European Cultural Centre’s Palazzo Mora during La Biennale di Venezia 2023. (20 May - 26 November 2023)
+++ SYMPOSIUM in Venice and Tokyo, 22 November 2023 +++
A symposium on the wider topic the Vertical Landscapes address will be held on 22 November 2023.
Vertical Landscapes introduce a new urban type: the continuation of the city’s land —streets, squares, parks…— in the air. Open to anyone at any time, these landscapes are the natural extension of the urban conditions at ground level.
INFRASTRUCTURE
Vertical Landscapes are not a building.
Vertical Landscapes are infrastructure multiplying the city’s ground without architecture’s compulsive desire to determine.
OPENNESS
As urbanisation progresses relentlessly, the city is and will remain at the centre of the dynamics that shape societal development. Exploring the potential of the vertical as integral part of the urban outside, increasing urban density will no longer be synonymous with inserting solitary towers but with intensifying urban life through an openness that once again fills the city with engaged and interactive content.
